Garnethill Walkabout 2011

Visit to Blochairn Control Centre


Following the presentation given by Steve McGeady of Glasgow Community Safety Services at the April 2011 meeting, a visit to the Blochairn Control Centre took place on Wednesday 4th May 2011. This proved to be a useful visit for those in the community interested in community safety, and gave those present ideas of how CCTV can be used for Garnethill.

Photography within the control room itself was not allowed. 

The Community Council are currently working with Community Safety Services to have a temporary CCTV camera installation placed in or near Garnethill Park.

Planning Application: 134 Renfrew Street

The Planning Application Committee visited the site on Tuesday 28th June 2011 before convening at the City Chambers. Unfortunately, none of the residents who were present were given an opportunity to speak to members of the PAC. The decision of the PAC, announced later the same day, was to approve the planning application by a slim margin:

• abstention (1)
  

Whilst a few minor amendments were made to the original planning application, it is nevertheless disappointing that the City Council did not listen to the voice of the community.

Garnethill Community Council Meetings

There is a monthly meeting of Garnethill Community Council, Glasgow City Councillors and residents, who come together to discuss and deal with issues affecting our locality. Remember that you do not have to be a member of the Community Council to be able to bring a concern to the attention of the meeting.
